Life at the North Pole

I think it's too cold to blog. The air in my home is warm enough, at least the thermostat says so but I feel like the bones of my home are frozen; the floors, walls... I could put refrigerated food in my kitchen cupboards right now and it'd stay fresh. It's too cold to think straight folks.

For the record it is the same temp here as it is in the city of North Pole, Alaska; not the actual North Pole but still, COLD! Single digits (Fahrenheit) is just too cold.

Average daily spending for 2015: $18.01

  1. Oh Rivulet! I wish I could send you a little bunch of my snowdrops! We've had quite a nice week here and it definitely feels as though spring is on the way. When will temperatures begin to rise for you?

    1. With a cold spell like this, pretty much the same as last year, we're not looking at spring really beginning until April. The very first flowers I saw last year (much like your gorgeous snow drops) didn't show up until April 7th. It will be here in the blink of an eye but April really feels so far away still, especially with these bitter temps.

  2. See, I know everyone thinks I'm crazy but I would L-O-V-E that - we are in the high 60's, low 70's and I H-A-T-E it!!!! I worry about our heat this summer since it is already so hot!!! Do you get boiling hot summers as well, or does it stay cooler?

    1. The problem with our summers is we have VERY humid summers. People who are used to summer temps being in the 100s but in dry heat still feel overly hot when they come here and it's in the high 80s/ low 90s because the air is so thick and wet it makes everything seem much hotter than it actually is. Sometimes during the summer it seems as if we could all go jump in the lake and we'd be able to breathe under water because the air is so thick and wet it doesn't seem it'd be much of a difference. Overall I'm not one of the Michiganders that complains about the weather. I really love our genuine four seasons. I am always in awe of the snow and I like hot summer nights. And during the autumn when the leaves are a blaze with color and all falling to the ground... oh it's just magical. But this deep freeze is hard to deal with for too long. (and then there's the heating bill... YIKES!)

  3. The heating bill would be bad....like our a/c bill in the summer - ewwwww!! I do not handle heat well at ALL (and I grew up in Florida, go figure) so I think Alaska might be the best place for me :) Actually I would love to move to Oregon - they have the perfect weather for me!!! Maybe when we retire......

    1. Ooh, Oregon is beautiful and yep, probably perfect weather for you. Do they really get snow though? I don't feel like they do. You really might just want to keep up the Alaska dream : )
